Dean Brackenridge28 Jan - 11:25

Tuesday 28th January 2025

Hello,

Thanks to all who came down to the club on Saturday for the women’s game and the club lunch. With two more Women’s games on Saturdays later this season we will be having some more lunches. It was also good to host Council leader Bella Sankey and get to show off an official ball for the Women’s Rugby World Cup. Sadly, the result did not go our way with a 7 – 26 loss but there was excellent attacking play and I’m sure a win is close by. After an aborted trip to Trinity during the big freeze the men’s first returned and came away with a 0 -13 win. On Sunday the Colts progressed into the quarter final of the Cup after beating Bognor.

Saturday sees both men’s teams at home as the firsts take on London Cornish in a middle of the table clash as they currently sit just one place above us. The Beef take on Worthing 3s. The club lunch on Saturday will be served at 12:30 and is Roast Chicken with all the traditional roast dinner trimmings or a vegetarian option of Wild Mushroom Risotto. Followed by either Bread & Butter Pudding or a cheeseboard for £15, children’s meal of Margarita Pizza & chips followed by ice cream for £6. To book contact Dean on dean@wantleymanor.com or on 07824700751 by midday on Thursday.

With the Ireland v England game kicking off at 4:45 it is a prefect opportunity to book a table with friends before settling into an afternoon of great rugby.

With two men’s games at home this is an ideal week to remind you all about the men’s headline sponsor Sam Butcher. Sam has helped the club out many times over the years with repairs to the club roof and they are an honest and reliable company. Sam Butcher Roofing is the home for high-quality roofing services in Brighton, Hove, and across Sussex. You can find more information at www.sambutcherroofing.co.uk

The storm on Sunday meant the lost property stall was not run but will return this Sunday (weather willing). After this Barry will be selling off any remaining items with the money going into club funds. There will also be a boot exchange/sale.
