Hello,
I hardly know where to start with all the exciting news from the club last weekend as the Women’s first team secured a win against Blackheath, a result that will hopefully secure their place in the league for next Season. On Sunday the U14 girls won the Sussex cup with a 21 – 12 scoreline against a combined Haywards Heath & Uckfield team and later that afternoon the colts came from behind to win their semi-final 34 – 27. Unfortunately, both men’s teams lost but sure they will bounce back next week!
It was a great weekend to have the RFU down filming some promotional materials. I would like to thank all the volunteers who gave up their time to be filmed and a special thanks to James Foster for all his work coordinating on the day and getting some excellent photos and footage that we can use.
This Sunday, March 30th, we are hosting the U9s and U10s festival at Hove, welcoming clubs from across the county and even the Channel Islands! It promises to be a fantastic day of junior rugby, and we look forward to seeing all the teams in action. A reminder to all members to please be considerate to our neighbours when parking and ensure we are respectful of the local community.
There are no league games for senior sides this weekend but both the men’s and women’s Vets teams are in action! The men head over to Seaford to take part in a Vets finals festival against Seaford and Haywards Heath and the women vets play their 2nd touch rugby match with KO at 12:00 at the club. If you are at a loose end on Saturday afternoon head over to cheer them on before catching the women’s six nations at the club.
Next Saturday sees the last league game for the men with both sides playing at home, the firsts take on Twickenham and the Beef host Crawley. As usual there will be a club lunch before the game served at 1:30pm. Main course Beef Bourguignon or Vegetable Stew served with mashed potatoes and spring vegetables. Followed by either a chocolate brownie or cheeseboard for £15, children’s meal of Pizza & Chips followed by Ice Cream for £6. To book contact Dean on dean@wantleymanor.com or on 07824700751 by midday on Thursday 3rd.
We also have some representative rugby to celebrate as former colts Cana Bamin and Ethan White have been selected for U20s Gloucestershire V Cornwall on 30th March.
